The Strathmore Performing Arts Festival is looking to showcase the work of local performers.

Registration for the festival ends on February 1 and is available for entertainers of all ages and skill levels.

"The festival is an opportunity for amateur performers in Strathmore and the surrounding communities to prepare and perform pieces of music, speech, or dramatic arts for an expert in their field," said Loralee Laycock, president of the festival. "They come in and provide feedback for these young performers."

The event also serves as an opportunity for performers to meet with other local artists while preparing for upcoming exams.

"Our mission statement for the festival is encouraging the arts in Strathmore, so it's a non-competitive festival," added Laycock. "It encourages young performers to share their talents with others without feeling like they have failed if they don't win the class."

The festival will take place between March 26 and April 9 at several venues across the area, including Strathmore Alliance Church, Brentwood Elementary School, Strathmore High School, Holy Cross Collegiate, and more.

"There's a small registration fee that performers pay for each class, and it depends on how many classes they're entering, the kind of classes they're entering, and their age category," said Laycock.

The event is sponsored by many local groups, including the Town of Strathmore, Strathmore Lions Club, and more.

"The festival would not happen without the generous donations of so many businesses and local support."

Those who are interested in registering for the program can do so by visiting the festival's website.
