Canadian Christian musicians will soon have an opportunity to grow in the field. The Canadian Christian Artist Accelerator cohort is set to start at the end of this month and applications are being accepted now.

"Jaylene [Johnson] and I had this vision for wanting to grow artists in Canada," says Canadian Christian artist, Elenee. "Having been a recipient of accelerators in the past for my music or business, I've found it's a really great expedited learning experience."

As artists will get a lot of information about an aspect of the music industry, Elenee says, "There should be something specifically to Canadian Christian artists because there is so much out there, but not all of it is available for Christian artists."

Jaylene Johnson expects the cohort model of the program to be effective. "You get to know people and our goal is that people will learn about these various aspects of the music industry in a very safe, collaborative, and encouraging way."

The focus will be branding/brand management with presenters Jill Kelly, Sharon Rurak, Karla Adolphe, Soraya Sachedina, and Michelle Gustafson sharing their expertise.

Each cohort will be limited to 12 people, something that Johnson hopes will help the participants build relationships to share input and give feedback. "The goal would be that by the end of it, you have people where you can pick up the phone and call them and get their input or feedback."

Elenee says that the Canadian Christian Artist Accelerator is made for any artist at any point in their journey. "I think this is going to be crucial to their next steps and really setting the tone for how they approach their artist-preneur."

"Starting out [music career], it can feel really overwhelming. So we're going to take this piece by piece, branding is a great way to start. Who are we? What is the story we're trying to tell and how are we telling that story? Who are we trying to engage?" Johnson says.

The Canadian Christian Artist Accelerator starts on Thursday, January 30, 202,5 and will run for seven weeks until March 13, 2025. For artists who are interested, the application can be found here. The deadline to apply is January 15, 2025. The cost for the cohort is $120 which will go to cover honorariums.
