Some communities and RMs around the area have been selected as grant recipients from Provincial Traffic Safety Fund for projects to improve traffic safety. 

Among the recipients include the Town of Colonsay who will receive $45,214 for a Pedestrian Crosswalks Lights Project 

The Town of Cudworth will get just over $8,265 dollars for a speed awareness project. 

 The RM of Hoodoo will obtain $32,000 for a speed awareness project at Wakaw Lake. 

 Town of Kelvington will gain just over $36,260 for a Safe Highway 38 crossing. 

 The village of Pilger will receive $9,360 for a Speed indicator project. 

The Town of Wadena will get around $30,800 for the Wildcat Battalion Memorial Walkway. 

Provincial Traffic Safety Fund grants are given to communities twice a year, using proceeds from Photo Speed Enforcement. 

Eligible projects must focus on one of the following traffic safety issues: speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving, occupant protection, intersection safety, aggressive driving, vulnerable road users, or medically-at-risk drivers. 

Since the program was established in 2019, $13.1 million has been provided for 870 projects in Saskatchewan. 

The Provincial Traffic Safety Fund Grant committee is accepting applications for the next round of funding. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit SGI's website for more information.
