Throughout the month of January, the Watrous Hospital will be experiencing temporary service disruption in their emergency room during the week between 4:30pm-8:00am and throughout weekends until January 21.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority has released a statement explaining the situation.

The Watrous Hospital is currently experiencing a staffing shortage in its laboratory medicine and diagnostic imaging department, which is affecting the operation of the hospital’s emergency department. This temporary staffing issue means those services will be unavailable in Watrous, Monday to Friday evenings from 16:30-08:00 and weekends all day, from January 8-21, 2025.

Anyone requiring emergency services in Watrous will be redirected to nearby communities to ensure they receive the care they require.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciates the public’s patience as we work through this temporary disruption.

Watrous’s Combined Laboratory X-Ray Technician (CLXT) staff are invaluable to the continuing operation of hospital services. Recruitment of more CLXT’s is a priority and ongoing.

During the closure of emergency services at the Watrous Hospital, emergency services are available in Humboldt and the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.
