Update: Airdrie RCMP remains on scene of early morning 40th Avenue incident

Mounties said they had cleared the scene on 40 Avenue near South Point Landing just before nine this morning.

"Traffic can resume in both directions. Thank you to the public for your cooperation," police added.

In the early morning hours on Friday, Airdrie RCMP was on the scene of a police incident near the railway crossing on 40th Avenue, close to South Point Landing - for several hours.

Mounties initially reported the incident early Friday morning, just before 5 a.m., stating that traffic was being diverted in all directions as officers worked there.

No further details about the nature of the incident have been released, though police noted an update would be provided later.
