Golden Hills School Division recently informed parents and students that a data breach occurred in late December.
According to Golden Hills, PowerSchool, the third-party student information system, stated that an unauthorized party gained access to student demographic data by compromising their corporate support credentials.
Parent and student information such as emails, phone numbers, and addresses have been impacted by the breach.
A cyber security support team is currently investigating the details and PowerSchool has stated they do not predict the data will be leaked online.
The company says the system is safe to use and that they have increased their system security to avoid future incidents.
PowerSchool stated they will provide further communication to those impacted by the breach.
StrathmoreNow has reached out to Golden Hills for comment, but we have yet to hear back.
