According to LongeviQuest, the longest-living person is a nun in Brazil who is 116 years old.

Inah Canabarro Lucas, born in June 1908, just surpassed the previous oldest living human, Tamiko Itooka of Japan after she passed away at 116.

Lucas started studying religion at 16 before being baptized at 17. At 26 years old, Lucas took her vows and became a nun in the Catholic church. She has held that role for the past 90 years and is the second oldest nun to have ever lived.

For her 110th birthday, Lucas was honoured by Pope Francis. She resides in Rio Grande do Sul and the other nuns she lives with say she has a great sense of humour.

"My secret, my big secret, is to pray," Lucas said during an interview

Her daily routine hasn't changed in decades, including when she wakes up, and allowing herself time to pray every day.

Her nephew, Cleber Canabarro, who is 84 years old, spends time with his aunt every Saturday. He also sends her voice messages in between, which lifted her spirits after two recent hospital visits.

"The other sisters say she gets a jolt when she hears my voice," says Canabarro. "She gets excited."

Lucas also happens to be a huge soccer fan, cheering for the local soccer team Inter. Her room is even decorated in red and white, the teams' colours, and they give a shout-out to their oldest fan on her birthday each year.
