Autumn Nelon Streetman is sharing a special moment from her son's birth last month.
Rhett James Streetman was born on Dec. 1, 2024, the same date as Autumn's late mother's birthday.
"When we went into the hospital, I knew the doctor I had been seeing for the last 9 months wasn’t on call that day," said Autumn. "I wasn’t sure what doctor I would end up with but it was completely God’s will for us to have Dr. Martin."
Autumn says Dr. Martin was a blessing the entire time and even asked if he could pray for Rhett and the family shortly after he was born, a special moment that was caught on video.
"We thank you that you gave the breath of life and we thank you that you brought him on the same birthday as his grandma Kelly and we know that she's watching and we know that you are here with us, your spirit is alive," prayed Dr. Martin. "We thank you that you are so good to give us a hospital in this town, this state in this great country where we can worship you and not be afraid. We can give thanks for the strong baby Rhett that you knit together in his mother's womb. You knew his name, even before anyone else. We just thank you for this good day."
Autumn says it was a special time for her family, something that will stick with her forever.
"I will never forget this moment," said Autumn.
In late July 2024, three members of the Grammy-nominated gospel band, The Nelons, died in a tragic plane crash in Wyoming.
When the tragedy struck, the family group were on their way to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska.
The crash claimed the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, Amber and Nathan Kistler and their assistant, Melodi Hodges. The pilot, Larry Haynie and his wife, Melissa were also killed in the crash.
Autumn, the youngest in the group and her husband Jaime Streetman, were not on the plane. They arrived safely in Seattle where they received the news that their family had perished in a plane crash.
Rhett is Autumn and Jamie's first child.
