Odyssey House, a dedicated organization committed to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, is announcing a change in leadership. After five years of exemplary service, Lisa Watson has stepped down as Executive Director.
Under her leadership, Odyssey House supported 1,115 women and 937 children through programs including a 24-hour crisis line, safe housing, 1:1 support and group sessions. Some notable achievements from Watson’s time at Odyssey House are the inception of GrandeCon and the launch of the 100 Families Initiative.
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to Lisa for their unwavering commitment and passion for our mission," said Jenna Canavan, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Her leadership has made a lasting impact, and we wish her the very best in their future endeavours."
Odyssey House is pleased to appoint Mikaela Peters as Executive Director, effective December 23, 2024. A longtime resident of Grande Prairie, Mikaela has a strong background in leadership, psychology, and human resources. Currently working towards a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, she brings both academic knowledge and practical experience to her role. With her experience in senior management over the last three years, Mikaela is already well-acquainted with the inner workings of the organization and is well-prepared to lead the organization and ensure the ongoing success of its programs.
“I am honoured to assume the role of Executive Director at Odyssey House," said Peters. "I look forward to working with the incredible team and board, as well as collaborating with our community partners to continue to elevate our programs and services."
