Rosebud Theatre & School of the Arts has announced Craig Hall as its new Artistic Director.

Hall says he's ready to get started with a new chapter in his life.

"I've been a fan of Rosebud for many, many years. My extended family are also subscribers. I'm just excited to bring a new perspective to the organization and to bring my national networks and group of colleagues along with me."

Hall has over 25 years of experience in the theatre industry and previously worked at Vertigo Theatre in Calgary as the artistic director for 10 years.

"I spent almost 18 years in Vancouver going to school and then entering the sector. I'm originally from Brooks. I was born in Calgary, and I grew up in Brooks."

According to Hall, his new job is a continuation of his journey heading back to his rural routes.

Hall takes over for Morris Ertman who has moved into semi-retirement.

The 2025 season for Rosebud is already set up and Hall says he will be directing one of the shows later on in the year.

"I really have half a year here to get the lay of the land and make a bunch of strategic plans and move forward before I have to start fully choosing the shows."

Hall explained that one of Rosebud's strengths is bringing members of the community together.

"It's not just the show, it's the drive out, it's the meal beforehand, it's roaming around this really quaint and beautiful hamlet."
