An Olympic kitesurfer is crediting God for placing him in the right place at the right time.

Bruno Lobo was out training and testing new equipment. It was cloudy and the wind conditions were not the best but he decided to test his new support anyway.

While out on the water, Lobo heard a sudden cry for help. He looked up to find a woman who was drowning.

"I promptly approached her with the kite, I tried to calm her down and asked her to climb on my back, she was very tired and without strength," said Lobo in a post on Instagram.

He says he used his equipment to bring her to the sand, where the lifeguards took over.

"Thank God everything worked out," said Lobo. "God used me as an instrument to save this young woman, all honour and glory to Him."

Lobo competed in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Previous to that he took part in the 2019 and 2023 Pan American Games where he won gold both times in Men's kite.
