Drumheller attempted to set the Guinness World Record last year for the largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs.

Over 3,000 people showed their dino spirit by wearing inflatable costumes and filling the streets to try to smash the record.

Despite surpassing expectations, the record-breaking attempt was unsuccessful due to a technicality.

The Guinness World Record was recently broken last week in West Palm Beach, Florida, despite only 468 people dressing as dinosaurs.

According to Travel Drumheller, while the town brought together six times the number of people, the logistics of verifying the participants proved to be an issue.

"This isn’t the only chance; we will attempt to break the record again in the future, and the Jurassic Jamboree will now be an annual event," mentioned Travel Drumheller in a Facebook post from May 8, 2024.

StrathmoreNow reached out to Travel Drumheller for comment on the record-breaking event.

We will update the story once we hear back.
