Despite Valentine's Day being a month away, one local floral boutique is already preparing for the celebration.
Sarah Witteman, owner of Pistil and Stems Floral Boutique, says Valentine's Day is one of the busiest times of the year.
"Preparation has to go in place for placing our orders for flowers and making sure we have the correct vases in stock. There is a ton of preparation that goes into it."
Witteman says the company starts getting the shop ready as early as January 1.
"We try to make Pistil and Stems a one-stop shop so you don't have to necessarily go to different stores."
According to Witteman, the store also carries teddy bears, chocolates, furniture, and fresh flowers to make it as easy as possible for people who shop in-store.
Witteman says she goes to her suppliers in Calgary every Monday to ensure she has the freshest flowers available.
"Longevity is essential and it's important, so by me going in and purchasing my flowers on my own, I have full control over quality control," she added.
Witteman prides herself on giving back to the community and will be handing out bouquets to senior citizens within Strathmore following their new Valentine's Day promotion.
"One of the biggest things for me is really being community-minded," added Witteman.
