It was a weekend full of highs and lows for the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.
The Kings were defeated by the Medicine Hat Cubs 8-5 on Friday (Jan. 17). However, the club crushed the High River Flyers 8-0 on Sunday evening.
Cody Holdaway, general manager of the Kings says the group watched tape to see what went wrong against the Cubs.
"We know our mistakes, we know what we need to fix, and that was displayed on Sunday afternoon when we dominated the Flyers 8-0."
According to Holdaway, it was a nice feeling for the team to bring home the win against the Flyers.
"We played well defensively, put pucks in the back of the net and it paid off."
The Kings have a record of 24-7-1 with 49 points, only two behind the division-leading Carstar Okotoks Bisons.
Holdaway says it'll be a big step for the club to get past the Bisons.
"The goal is in the palm of our hands; we just have to reach out and grab it."
The Kings will return to the ice on Friday (Jan. 24) against the High River Flyers at 8:15 p.m. at the Bob Snodgrass Memorial Complex followed by a game versus the Sylvan Lake Wranglers on Saturday at 8 p.m. at the NexSource Centre.
Next week the Kings will take on the Bisons on Friday (Jan. 31) at 8 p.m. at the Murray & Piper Arena.
