The Village of Standard reopened Clover Farm, its only grocery store, earlier this month.
Back in 2018, the local Co-op grocery store had closed down, leaving residents without a place to purchase groceries.
"A group of about 30 local people got together and purchased the building from Co-op, calling themselves The Broadway Group," said Ross Collins, vice-president of the organization.
"There was a lot of concerned locals who didn't want to be without a store in Standard."
After purchasing the grocery store, Ed and Cathy Christensen became the new proprietors, running the place from April 2019 until August 2024 when Ed retired.

The Broadway Group began looking for someone new to own the store, eventually choosing Won and Jamie Lee, a mother-son duo whose family also owns a grocery store in Bassano.
"He was interested in it very much, so Won and his mother have since moved to Standard and ended up opening the store here on January 10, much to the delight of the whole community."
Collins said that the village has nothing but positive comments about having the local grocery store back in operation.
Clover Farm carries products such as meat, dairy, dry goods, liquor, lottery, fresh-baked goods, and produce.
