The morning matchups at the Viterra Prairie Pinnacle didn't disappoint. Two games needed extra ends as the first draw of the week certainly set the tone.
Team McCartney took on Team Holland in the candidate for game of the morning. Each team collected a point through two ends, before Team Holland collected two points in the fourth end and three points in the fifth end, and one in the sixth for a nice 7-1 lead, but then the McCartney rink exploded for six points in the seventh end to square up the score 7-7
"We had a good regroup at the fifth end break, and the girls came out firing and made a sequence of absolutely beautiful shots to set up that big ender and made my job easy to hang a big score on the board." said skip Jessica McCartney.
McCartney added singles the next two ends to go up 9-7, before Holland tied it with two in the 10th. Coming out on top in the extra end, Team McCartney took the 10-9 victory to start their week off on the right foot.
The other exciting game saw Team Selzer hanging on for an extra-end win of their own against Team Martin. Team Selzer wouldn't score until putting up a three spot in the third end to make it 3-1, but Team Martin responded quickly with two of their own to make it 3-3 after four. The two sides jockeyed back and forth until Selzer tied it in the tenth end, taking the win in the eleventh.
The other two matchups ended up in early handshakes as Team Barker beat Team Thevenot 6-2, and Team Campbell beat Team Englot 9-4.
