Four people, including one from Chestermere, were charged in a drug and weapons bust in Calgary.

A news release from Calgary police says Ricky Singh Gill from Chestermere, is facing 12 charges related to drug trafficking, firearms, and possession of stolen property.

One man and two other women from Calgary were also charged with a total of 56 offences.

Police called in the Gun Violence Enforcement Team (GVET) after they discovered suspicious activity in the city's northeast. 

On Tuesday (Jan. 14) search warrants were executed at a house in the 100 block of Castlebrook Way N.E., along with a white 2011 Dodge Ram, which police believed belonged to one of the suspects.

Police found 435 grams of methamphetamine worth $3,500, a total of 27 grams of cocaine, 26 grams of fentanyl, a Mossberg International .22-calibre rifle, multiple shotguns including a Remington 870 as well as ammunition, a stolen e-motorcycle, and more.

A safe was also discovered by police in the undercarriage of the Dodge Ram which contained 41 grams of crack cocaine valued at $2,500 along with eight grams of fentanyl worth $300.

The four people charged have a court date set for Wednesday (Jan.22).
