Driven by the dedication and hard work of its employee-owners, Friesens Corporation has had a strong start to 2025 and is poised to continue that success.
That strong employee-ownership culture was celebrated last week as the Altona-based book manufacturer hosted a memorable evening of celebration and camaraderie during an "Unplugged Nite” as part of its Employee-Owner Days. According to the company, about 300 employee-owners, along with its entire Book Sales team, participated in the event that took place at the Millennium Exhibition Centre.
"The event was a resounding success, featuring delicious appetizers, engaging games, and the joy of reconnecting with colleagues who often work remotely. It provided a unique opportunity for employees to unwind, socialize, and strengthen their bonds," stated a Friesens news release.
One of the many lively activities of the night was a fast-paced game of Jeopardy, with the Senior Leadership team as the contestants. As well, nearly 100 service awards were presented to employee-owners, acknowledging those who have served the company from 5 years to 45 years.
The evening was also marked by the announcement of a $1.75 million Employee-Owner Distribution. "This significant milestone underscores the company's commitment to its employee-owners and their invaluable contributions," added the release.
As Friesens heads into 2025, with almost 118 years of business behind it, the company says it is in a robust position for the future, buoyed by growth in the book industry.
