Alberta Health Services (AHS) has recently added an Okotoks hospital to its online wait time tracker.
The tracker was created as a way for residents to determine wait times for hospitals around the region without needing to visit in person.
"Estimated wait times do not apply to critically ill or injured patients who will always be seen quickly," wrote AHS. "The posted wait times reflect an estimate of how long it takes from an assessment by a triage nurse in the emergency department to being seen by a physician."
The wait times are calculated through a software system that uses data from the facility and compares it to the number of people in the emergency department.
StrathmoreNow reached out to AHS to see if Strathmore would be added to the list of hospitals in the tracker.
"Currently, Strathmore does not have the underlying system which would allow us to track this information, but we continue to look for opportunities to provide this service at our regional healthcare locations," responded AHS.
The online wait times were first posted for hospitals in Calgary back in 2011 and has since grown to include most of Alberta.
