A collision reported by Airdrie motorists that occurred earlier this evening, southbound on the QEII Highway, just past Veterans Boulevard/Highway 567 has been cleared.

There are limited details on the collision at this time.

Earlier this evening, Mounties warned drivers of hazardous road conditions across southern Alberta, particularly along highways between Airdrie and Red Deer, including Olds and Bowden. Black ice and severe winds create dangerous driving conditions, with limited stopping ability over short distances.

Drivers are advised to reduce speeds, drive cautiously, and avoid non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Environment Canada is forecasting rain showers or flurries, transitioning to snow before tapering off this evening. Winds will ease overnight, with temperatures dropping to -10 C and a wind chill of -17.

A mix of sun and cloud is expected on Friday, with northwest winds gusting to 60 km/h by late morning. Temperatures will reach a high of -3 C, with wind chills of -16 in the morning and -11 in the afternoon. Friday night will bring clearing skies and a low of -17 C, with a wind chill of -19.

Motorists are urged to monitor road and weather conditions and ensure they are equipped for winter driving.
