Rocky View Schools (RVS) is opening up registration for kindergarten students for the 2025/26 school year on Monday (Feb. 3).

“We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of new learners to our schools,” said Superintendent of Schools, Greg Luterbach. “The beginning of kindergarten is an exciting time for families, as well as our staff, as these students embark on the first steps of their learning journey. Every year, we look forward to meeting these new students and building a foundation with them that will help them achieve their very best in the years to come.”

A news release from RVS says Kindergarten is a half-day program in most elementary schools in the division. According to the organization, other schools offer full-day Kindergarten programs on alternating days.

"Later in the spring, children will be placed in morning or afternoon programs based on circumstances outlined by parents and available space. Although registration will continue throughout the year, registering early helps families and schools plan for a successful transition and provides RVS with the necessary information to have teachers and resources in place," added the division.

Staff with the division said children born between Jan. 1 and December 31, 2020, can register for Kindergarten for the 2025/26 school year.

The organization has schools in Langdon and Chestermere.

Registrations have to be done through SchoolEngage, RVS' online registration system.
