The City of Chestermere has completed repair work on a sound wall located along Rainbow Road.
According to the city, the wall was damaged following a car crash in 2024, with the initial cost of repair estimated at around $73,000.
The city claimed that the sound wall was structurally unsound following the crash, which opened Chestermere to liability.

At first, the city aimed to have a third-party insurer pay for the costs of repair. However, it was determined that paying the full cost would be considered a "betterment", making the wall brand new again.
"Due to the diligence and attention of our staff members, the city is pleased to report that the repairs to the sound wall cost $29,190," wrote the city.
The insurer ended up paying around $42,000 of the total repair costs.
A sound wall is used to separate traffic noises from residential areas.
