Christian rapper Lecrae's daughter Maya decided to take the plunge and be baptized this past Sunday, bringing her dad to tears of joy.
"Today, my daughter publicly declared her decision to follow Christ, and it’s just now hitting me. I’m overwhelmed with emotion, (Dad is crying)," Lecrae said on social media.
Amaya Moore, AKA Maya, joined her dad on stage in February 2024 during the Grammy Awards in which Lecrae received two awards. "All I ever dreamed of was being the father I never had," Lecrae shared with a picture of the two of them before the awards ceremony.
"Reflecting on God’s goodness and faithfulness. As parents, we long for our children’s physical well-being, but more than that, I’ve prayed for their hearts to know and love God."
Lecrae is married to Darragh Moore and the couple has three children together.
"I’d sit at breakfast reading the Bible, sharing the gospel, and pointing her to Him, knowing I can’t change my baby girl’s heart—only God can. All I could do was serve, pray, and trust in His timing. And He’s faithful!!! I’m beyond grateful because my Heavenly Father is far greater than I could ever be."
The last album Lecrae released was Church Clothes 4, the one that got him two Grammy Awards and was released in 2022. On Jan. 16, 2025, the artist released a single "King David" which features Trip Lee, Jackie Hill Perry, and Alexxander. He's also been releasing episodes of his podcast, The Deep End with Lecrae, where he hosts guests and no topic is off limits.
