Strathmore teenagers tried on prom dresses this past weekend to make their dreams come true.
Denise Geremia, founder of The Enchanted Project says the program started with residents bringing their prom dresses to her store Lil Hoots Children's Boutique and asking if she would sell the items for them.
"People just weren't coming into the store to look at one or two prom dresses so we began doing it as an event."
Geremia says people can pay her $20 to sell their dresses for them and they get back 100 per cent of the proceeds.
"If they donate their dress to the store, we sell the dress, and that money is going back into advertising and promoting this program."
Geremia mentioned that last weekend's event was quite popular at the Hope Community Church on Saturday (Jan. 25).
"If these girls can come in and try on a dress and just feel beautiful and they can go to the prom or grad with their classmates and have beautiful dresses, this is all this is about."
This was the second annual event for the initiative.
"Almost every single girl who came in ended up buying a dress," added Geremia.
This year, Lush Realty with RE/MAX Key partnered with the group as everyone who bought a dress was entered to win a makeover from Lush.
