Duck Dynasty's Silas Merritt Robertson, AKA Uncle Si, recently spent three days in the hospital after a hunting incident.
The 76-year-old recently went hunting in Arkansas when he fell out of a boat. Normally Robertson hosts a weekly podcast called "Duck Call Room" with cohosts Justin Martin and Phillip McMillan. After the incident, he took a few weeks off so the other cohorts updated fans.
"Typical Silas Robertson: In a dang hurry to get out of the boat," Martin said on Monday's podcast episode. "He went to take a long step instead of waiting for us to move the decoys and the shotguns...A BDH, a big dang hurry, and he fell."
Trying to save face, Robertson bounced right back up, although he knew he was injured.
"He didn't want anybody to see that he fell," says Martin. "The problem is you're covered in mud now, like we know you fell."
While Robertson is often talkative, the fall had him shaken.
"We get back to the clubhouse, and breakfast is done and we're looking up and there's no Si. He's just sitting outside in the cold. I immediately thought he had a concussion because it was out of character. He was real quiet, another red flag, no stories."
Robertson headed to the hospital after the trip without telling his friend, Martin. Once he found out, Martin headed straight to the ER.
"I said, 'What is going on?' And I figured he would start laughing and talking. No, he said, 'Man, I'm in a lot of pain.' He said, 'I fell duck hunting and I think I broke some ribs.' He always thinks it's worse than it is."
While his oxygen level was quite low and Robertson was admitted, the scans and bloodwork all came back clean. Robertson is now at home, recovering.
Robertson, or as fans know him, Uncle Si, will be returning to prime-time TV this summer in the reboot of the show, now called Duck Dynasty: The Revival.
