Rocky View County is looking for feedback on its proposed Agriculture Master Plan.

The plan is currently in phase two of public engagement, with residents being asked to attend the final Community Conservation on Friday (Jan. 31) at Irricana Hall.

"The County has engaged with local farmers, agri-businesses, and residents to create a draft of the Agriculture Master Plan," wrote the county.

During the last engagement phase, participants shared their views on farm succession, protecting agricultural land, renewable energy, and legislated programs.

For those who can't attend the event, an online survey is available on the county's website.

"The Agriculture Master Plan is a strategic guiding document that outlines the long-term vision and policy framework for agriculture and land use planning for our agricultural community," added the county.

"It supports and promotes the agricultural industry by addressing key issues such as land use policy, economic development, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability."

Following the event at the end of the month, the Agriculture Master Plan will move to a summary report on public engagement in the spring before revealing the final plan.

According to the county, the goal of the plan is to protect agricultural land while giving farm families the flexibility to support generational planning.

The Irricana Hall Community Conversation runs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with those looking to attend needing to RSVP.
