A man wanted on Canada-wide warrants for first-degree murder in the 2018 killings of Toronto rapper Smoke Dawg and music manager Koba Prime was arrested in Airdrie during a routine traffic stop earlier this week, police say.
According to Toronto Police, the suspect, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will be returned to Ontario. No timeline has been provided.
2018 Toronto shooting
Toronto Police reported that on June 30, 2018, officers responded to gunfire near Queen Street West and Peter Street. The shooting claimed the lives of the rapper and manager, while a woman was injured but survived.
Following an investigation, police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Abdulkadir Handule, 22. He was arrested in Burnaby, B.C., in 2019 on unrelated charges. At the time, police also said a second suspect, a youth at the time of the killings, was still wanted.

- Five firearm-related offences
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Three counts of identity fraud
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on Jan. 30.
