Two Calgary residents were arrested after being caught in the act of a break and enter at an oil lease site.
Drumheller RCMP responded to a call near Kneehill County on Tuesday (Jan. 28) for a report that two suspects were seen loading items into a green Mazda van.
"While officers were en route, the suspects and suspect vehicle left the location; however, officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle on Highway 575 near Range Road 212A," mentioned a police news release.
According to RCMP, when they searched the vehicle they found fuel, tools, large quantities of stolen copper wire, and more.
"Further investigation found that both suspects were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants and both bound by prior release order conditions."
Sarah Doumont and Ryan Watson from Calgary were arrested and charged with break and enter, failing to comply with a release order, and mischief over $5,000.
Doumont also had 16 outstanding warrants such as flight from police, possessing stolen property, and failing to attend court four times.
Watson was also arrested for outstanding warrants for failing to attend court and two charges of failing to comply with a court order.
"Both Doumont and Watson were remanded into custody following judicial interim release hearings," added RCMP.
Watson has a court date in Calgary on Monday (Feb. 3), while Doumont will be in court on Friday (Jan. 31).
Drumheller RCMP is asking residents to call them about any other suspicious activity at 403-823-2630.
