UPDATE:

Fox Creek RCMP are updating that they are slowly making progress with vehicles clearing the road.

Upon the initial arrival, Fox Creek RCMP stopped traffic until they could properly assess the collision and any drivers and passengers for their condition.

Currently, there is a southbound lane which is open, and crews are working on a diversion to allow northbound traffic a way through.

Sgt. Brand of the Fox Creek RCMP has a message for semi drivers coming through the area, “Take the time to chain up in these conditions, the hills can be quite slippery and there is no chance of stopping.”

Additionally, Fox Creek RCMP have also had to deal with drivers on their cell phones as they pass emergency responders.  1 violation ticket has already been given, “And we will do more if we have to,” said Sgt. Brand.

Violation tickets were given to 1 semi driver from the collision for following too closely and not driving for the road conditions.

Crews and RCMP are still on scene, community members are asked to give emergency responders room if they need to move and to continue being patient while they try to get traffic moving.

Roads are slippery across the Peace Country with the recent snowfall.

511.alberta.ca is showing snow covered roads in parts of the Peace Country.  "Highway 43 Road Report" on Facebook is reporting vehicles in the ditch and traffic delays on Highway 43 in a few locations.

There are reports that traffic is moving at a crawl around Two Creeks Hill between Fox Creek and Whitecourt on Highway 43.  We've also learned about an incident involving a vehicle on 43 near Sturgeon Heights, west of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.  Be careful out there.
