A fog advisory remains in effect for Rocky View County, including Airdrie and Crossfield, as dense fog blankets the region. Environment Canada warns that visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero, making travel hazardous.

Low visibility is expected to persist throughout the morning before improving later this afternoon. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads, particularly with the added risk of freezing drizzle and icy sections.

Road Conditions

According to 511 Alberta, the QEII, from the Calgary city limits to north of the Highway 2A junction, is currently bare and dry in some areas. However, conditions include snowfall, fog, icy sections, slippery conditions, and icy wheel paths.

Weather Forecast

Friday’s forecast includes a 60 per cent chance of flurries in the morning, with skies becoming a mix of sun and cloud by the afternoon. There is a risk of freezing drizzle, and fog patches are expected to persist. Winds up to 15 km/h will keep the high at -3°C, with wind chill values of -12°C in the morning and -7°C by the afternoon.

Tonight, skies will be partly cloudy before increasing cloud cover before morning. There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries overnight, with a low of -12°C and wind chill values reaching -16°C.

On Saturday, Feb. 1, flurries are expected throughout the day. Winds will shift north at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h, with temperatures dropping to -17°C by the afternoon. Wind chill values will reach -16°C in the morning and -27°C in the afternoon.

Saturday night will remain cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries, with a low of -26°C.
