Several Chestermere firefighters attended the recent Chestermere Video Game Night, hosted by Synergy Connects.
The event, hosted at the Chestermere Rec Centre, saw around 100 kids make it out to play video games and enjoy some snacks.
"We have a pretty good relationship with Synergy and all the community groups around Chestermere," said Brant Edlund, one of the firefighters at the event. "Terry, one of the guys that runs it, lets us know when they're doing an event, and if we're free we like to stop by and say hello."
The night featured a variety of video game consoles, with the firefighters seen playing on a Nintendo 64.
"They have the walls lined with TVs and old consoles. All of the kids were doing a Mario Kart tournament when we walked in. They had a whole schedule set up. It was very cool to see."
Edlund said that the kids were excited to see the firefighters come to join in on the games.
"We're pretty lucky to have that reaction with kids, but just to sit down and play games with them, it's even more special."
The next Video Game Night hosted by Synergy takes place on February 6 in Langdon.
