SBC is set to begin construction on its new campus in March 2025, with a move in date of September 2026.
Dave Reimer, President of Steinbach Bible College says they are working on finalizing the blueprints for the new building, which will be located at the corner of Loewen Boulevard and Albert Street in Steinbach.
“We're getting close. The board has confirmed that we are moving forward with the project. We have agreed on the building concept. We are now working on blueprints. We hope to see physical action on the property starting in March.”
Reimer says it’s been an encouraging process, seeing all the pieces come together.
“There’s an enthusiasm about it. People are excited. It's the right thing to do and it’s the right time. We just need to see the money come together.”
At this point, Reimer says they’re looking at a $15 million project. However, $11 million is already committed, gifted or pledged, so they're still looking for $4 million to finish this project.
While the new property awaits the building to begin this spring, it’s business as usual over at the current campus, as school is actively in session at SBC.
“It’s happening for real, right now. We're training up servant leaders to follow Jesus, serve the church, and engage the world. That’s what we have been doing; that’s what we are doing.”
This semester there are eight additional new students attending SBC, and Reimer says applications for next fall are very strong.
“There’s a camaraderie on campus and a real desire to grow. There's excitement about what we get to do at Steinbach Bible College.”
Not only that, but Reimer adds that Mission X is coming up fast – a pivotal time for students, as they go out and experience life and ministry in Inner City Winnipeg, in Northern Manitoba communities, and Spain.
Reimer finds it intriguing to consider how the right people have come together to make building a new campus a reality – from the board to the faculty, to staff and students.
“In conversation with donors, we see the enthusiasm is there, across the board. We're seeing drawings coming together, we're seeing the building process going forward, we're seeing donations coming in, and we're seeing students joining us in the process,” says Reimer.
“It’s just really good to be part of all this momentum.”
Building on the past, building for the future.
