Casey Kruse has struck gold at a swim meet this past weekend in Cochrane.
Kruse took home first place in the Mixed 200 Meter Free with a time of 3:22:06 along with first spot in the Mixed 200 Meter Individual Medley at 3:31:59.
The athlete got second place in the mixed 50 Meter Back at 44:28, along with third spot in the Mixed 100 Meter Back at 1:40:33 and Mixed 100 Meter Individual medley at 1:37:26.
"All the races that I raced this past weekend were all my provincial races for Special Olympics," said Kruse.
Kruse has been swimming with the Strathmore Silver Sharks Swim Club for about 15 years including Master's.
"Once I joined Special Olympics, I felt like I wasn't getting what I needed completely because of my speed so I joined Strathmore Master's to get extra help with my swimming so I could see myself go farther with lots of my long-term goals."

The swimmer also finished with personal best times in the Mixed 200 Meter Fly at 10.71 seconds, Mixed 200 Meter Individual Medley at 10.71 seconds, Mixed 200 Meter Free at 7.58 seconds, Mixed 100 Meter Back at 4.91 seconds, Mixed 50 Meter Back at 2.63 seconds, and Mixed 100 Meter Individual Medley at 1.70 seconds.
"I'm really enjoying the sport and when it comes to continuing on it just motivates me more seeing the personal bests improve," added Kruse.
Kruse also thanked her coaches, and personal trainer for helping her to achieve her goals.
