Snowplows have been working in Strathmore since early Wednesday (Feb. 5) morning following a few centimetres of snow that fell overnight.

To keep sidewalks clean, the town is offering tips to residents on ways to keep the streets safe.

These tips include:

  • Shoveling snow onto your property instead of onto the road.
  • Clearing windrows when necessary.
  • Keeping storm drains clear of snow, ice, and debris for optimum drainage.
  • Park your vehicle in the driveway to allow for snow cleaning.
  • Keep about 10 metres away from snowplows, graders, and sanding trucks.

Snow crews have been at work in town throughout the week as our forecast called for flurries and snow to hit the area.

Despite the warm start to the winter, the forecast is expecting temperatures between -11°C and -30°C for the next week.
