Airdrie motorists heading north and south on the QEII should prepare for another evening of winter driving. Snow continues into the evening, leaving icy sections and reduced visibility in some areas.
Blowing snow and slippery conditions are reported along the route, with ice buildup on shoulders and wheel paths. While primary lanes remain mostly bare and dry, patches of ice and drifting snow may cause sudden changes in traction.
This evening, periods of snow will end, giving way to clearing skies. However, temperatures will drop to -28°C with a wind chill of -36, and frostbite can occur in minutes.
Thursday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, but the bitter cold will linger. Morning wind chills will be -28°C, improving slightly to -16°C in the afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will plunge to -29°C, with wind chills hitting -33 °F.
Friday will be clear with a high of -11°C, but motorists should continue to expect icy patches and lingering drifts.
