The City of Chestermere will begin more upgrade work on the Rainbow Road Bridge next week.
According to the city, contractors will return to the bridge on Monday (Feb. 10) and will complete instream rip rap and pier removal by Tuesday.
Work will begin at 7 a.m. and last until 7 p.m. on both days.
"There will be an occasional single-lane closure on the new bridge with flaggers alternating traffic between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to avoid disrupting motorists during high peak hours," wrote the city. "This traffic disruption will only occur when equipment and materials are being delivered to and from the work site."
The old bridge on Rainbow Road was built approximately 50 years ago and has reached the end of its service life. The new bridge will be widened, providing two travel lanes each way across the canal.
Work on the bridge has been ongoing since December of 2023.
