Strathmore is hosting the U18 Female Hockey Alberta Provincial Championship for the first time.
The tournament will take place at the Strathmore Family Centre Arena from March 20 to 23 and will feature eight teams from across the province.
"The Wheatland Wranglers came to fruition last year. This is its second year," said Jodi Vanderlaan, manager of the team. "It coincides with Strathmore Minor Hockey but is a different division."
According to Vanderlaan, money raised through the tournament will go back into the Wranglers to develop the program. The organization is raising funds through ticket sales and sponsorships.

"We have a few sponsorship packages available and a raffle table that we're hoping to blow out of the park."
The Wranglers are also looking for donations such as snacks, drinks, and cash that could be put towards the tournament's expenses.
"Boys' hockey is boys' hockey. It's everywhere. Girls' hockey is not everywhere, so it's nice when you can pull the females and keep them engaged," added Vanderlaan. "A lot of times, the girls stop hockey around U13."
The organization believes that the tournament will bring a lot of attention to local businesses as over one hundred players come from out of town to attend the event.
The Wranglers take in players from Brooks, Indus, Lyalta, Chestermere, Langdon, Siksika Nation, Drumheller, Rockyford.
Tickets for the tournament will be available at the door.
