A multi-vehicle collision involving a tanker truck on Friday afternoon previously shut down the QEII Highway in both directions near Township Road 362, just north of Innisfail. However, as of Saturday morning, the northbound lanes had reopened and just before 11 a.m., both the southbound and northbound lanes had fully re-opened.

While the crash was about 90 kilometres north of Airdrie, it had significant traffic congestion on the major corridor Airdrie and Calgary-area commuters used. On Friday, drivers heading north or south between Red Deer and Calgary were warned to expect major delays and seek alternate routes.

RCMP confirmed the crash involved three vehicles, and minor injuries have been reported. Emergency workers are on the scene working to clear the wreckage.
