On Saturday (Feb. 8), the Strathmore Civic Centre was filled with dozens of dogs for the sixth annual FurFest.
Hosted by Alpine View Pet Spa, the event was a dog-themed fair that featured an off-leash play area, local vendors, and adoptable dogs.
"It's been really busy, which is awesome," said Alpine View owner Kyla Janes shortly into the event. "We've had tons of dogs coming through, and we've got goody bags for them all."

For Valentine's Day, Alpine View created "dating" profiles written for the adoptable dogs so that prospective owners could learn more about their furry friends.
"One lady specifically did up all the profiles, giving little descriptions of the dogs and making it fun for Valentine's Day."
This wasn't the only Valentine-themed part of the event. There was a "kissing booth" for dogs and their owners to take portrait and family-style photos together.

The vendors at the event varied from dog toys and accessories to human clothes and knick-knacks. There was also hot food and cotton candy available.
"We take all of the proceeds of everything from the day and split it between a couple of chosen rescues," added Janes. "Rescued Paws at Alpine is our sponsored pet rescue for dogs, and Happy Cat is the other one where we split all the proceeds."
