The regular season is officially over for the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings.

The team finished the season over the weekend with two consecutive wins against the Medicine Hat Cubs and the Coaldale Copperheads.

General manager Cody Holdaway said this is the best season in Kings' history.

"With two more wins, we officially shattered the franchise record with 27 wins. I think the previous record was either 16 or 17, so we've had a phenomenal season, but we haven't won anything yet."

The Kings also clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs, marking the first time in franchise history that the Kings' made it past the first round.

"We've clinched our home-ice advantage against Medicine Hat, which is a key proponent to our success," added Holdaway.

The Kings are on a break until the start of playoffs, which begins on February 22 against the Cubs.

"We'll show Medicine Hat what home-ice advantage really is because we know our fans will be there to support us."

The Kings' first playoff game takes place at the Strathmore Family Centre.
