Siksika Nation is gearing up to honour women in the nation in just under a month.

"This year’s Siksika Women’s Day calls for accelerated action. We’re looking for amazing women in our community who are making a difference and breaking down barriers to accelerate action for a more fair and inclusive world," mentioned the nation in a news release.

Women's Day runs on Saturday, Mar. 8.

"By nominating a Siksikaaki, you are telling her that she is an extraordinary and courageous woman who is inspiring others and making an impact on the lives of others. You are also honouring her accomplishments, validating her hard work, dedication, and contribution to the community," added the release.

A few categories for deserving nominees include Youth in Action for anyone between 16 to 25 years old, currently enrolled in school, taking part in a club or sports team, and being an excellence role model.

There is also the Youth in Leadership category for residents between the ages of 16 to 25 years old who are enrolled in school, show leadership and are role models in the community.

Nominees for the Women in Action award also have to promote active living in the community.

"This award recognizes exceptional women who embody the spirit of our community, and inspire others through their actions and accomplishments," added Siksika.

As well, the Women in Leadership award winner has to show initiative in the community.

"This award recognizes the achievements of women who lead, inspire, and motivate," said the release.

The Lifetime Achievement will be awarded to women who have worked for 15 years or more to help make the community better by showcasing positive attention through their work.

The form to nominate a deserving woman can be found here and nominations close Friday, Feb. 21.
