With Valentine's Day right around the corner, there are a few love-themed events going on in Strathmore and the surrounding area.

There are also many local restaurants accepting reservations as they expect Valentine's Day to be quite busy.

Here are a few things you can do to get into the Valentine's mood on Friday (Feb. 14):

1. Poetry Cafe

Starting at 7 p.m. in the Strathmore Municipal Library, this special Poetry Cafe doesn't just fall on Valentine's Day, but it also marks the one-year anniversary for the event.

The library is inviting everybody to attend and recite poetry and music in front of a small crowd.

"We are extending a special invitation to teens and young adults to perform their poetry," wrote the library.

The cafe is free to attend with no registration required.

2. Valentine's Tattoo Sale

Divine Emerald Ink in Strathmore is decking residents out in black and red ink to celebrate the day.

Between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. residents can pick between one 3" x 3" tattoo for $70, or two for $130.

The tattoo parlor claims that tattoos can only be done on the arms, legs, and back for the sale.

3. Cuddles and Kisses Storytime

Over in Chestermere, the public library is hosting a special story-time event for Friday.

"We encourage parents to snuggle up with their little ones for a magical 45 minutes filled with stories, songs, and music," wrote the library.

The program emphasizes cuddles and kisses "as part of the bonding experience".

The event is free for all local parents.
