The Kinette Club of Estevan is putting the "fun" in fundraising once again with a unique community challenge leading up to TeleMiracle 49. This year, five well-known Estevan residents have stepped up as candidates for a messy fate—all in the name of charity.
The friendly competition pits Estevan against the town of Nokomis, where Kinette Club member Krissy Wallman’s mother serves as the local TeleMiracle representative. Each community has gathered a lineup of participants who could end up with a pie in the face, depending on donations.
From February 13th to 26th, anyone who makes a personal donation of $5 or more can cast a vote for who they’d like to see pied. The Estevan lineup includes Kinette Club members Susan Colbow and Raelene Fieber, along with Mayor Tony Sernick and Estevan Comprehensive School Principal, James Jones.
“This is our third year doing the challenge, and it’s always a lot of fun,” said Wallman. “We’re hoping the community gets involved and helps us raise as much as possible for TeleMiracle.”
In addition to the pie challenge, the Estevan Kinette Club will be set up at the Estevan Bruins home game on February 22nd. Fans can stop by their table to purchase Helping Hands, participate in the chuck-a-puck fundraiser, and make donations toward the campaign.
TeleMiracle 49 is set to take place on March 1 and 2, continuing its decades-long tradition of supporting Saskatchewan families in need. Every dollar raised stays in the province, providing specialized medical assistance and equipment through the Kinsmen Foundation.
For those looking to contribute and cast their vote in the pie challenge, donations can be made through the Kinette Club of Estevan.
