When she got the call, she was asked which of her furry friends she thought had taken home the prize. Her guess? Her boyfriend’s cat, Psycho. But the real winner? Shadow, her almost three-year-old Pomeranian!

Repair Café returning to Estevan with free fixes and a call for volunteers

A broken toaster, a torn jacket, or a wobbly chair—rather than tossing them, the upcoming Repair Café in Estevan on March 29 invites people to bring their damaged items and get them fixed for free.

The Saskatchewan Waste Reduction Council is excited to bring the event back to the Estevan Public Library for a fourth time, and once again, local volunteers with repair skills are needed to make it happen.

Estevan community leaders step up for a messy TeleMiracle fundraiser!

The Kinette Club of Estevan is putting the "fun" in fundraising once again with a unique community challenge leading up to TeleMiracle 49. This year, five well-known Estevan residents have stepped up as candidates for a messy fate—all in the name of charity.

The friendly competition pits Estevan against the town of Nokomis, where Kinette Club member Krissy Wallman’s mother serves as the local TeleMiracle representative. Each community has gathered a lineup of participants who could end up with a pie in the face, depending on donations.

Estevan families invited to free bouncy castle event

Families in Estevan are in for a treat as the Estevan Early Years Family Resource Centre brings back its highly anticipated Bouncy Castle Morning on Thursday, February 20.

Held at the Wylie Mitchell Building from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the event will feature an exciting lineup of inflatables, including two large bouncy castles, one medium-sized castle, and a toddler-friendly inflatable. The event is free to attend and offers a fun-filled way for families to enjoy the school break.

Bienfait's Battle in the Barn returns for 14th year

Bienfait’s annual Battle in the Barn is back for its 14th year, running from March 27 to 30 at the Bienfait Memorial Arena. This 3-on-3 tournament has become a highlight of the hockey season, drawing families from near and far.

“We’re really excited about it,” said Danielle Woolsey, one of the event’s organizers. She noted the event’s long-standing success, thanks to continued support from the local hockey community.

Macoun Skidoo rally to support town hall refurbishment

The Village of Macoun is gearing up for a big fundraiser for its Town Hall. The community, located about a half-hour drive north of Estevan, will host a Skidoo rally on February 22. Marissa Martin joined the SUN 102 Morning Show to share some details about the event and the much-needed town hall renovations.

“We’ve been working on refurbishing the hall for years, and we’re closing in on the light at the end of the tunnel,” said Martin. The goal is to have the hall ready by the end of 2025, with the rally helping to bring them closer to that vision.

Gunner crowned January’s Perfect Pet—but where’s his owner?

The first Perfect Pet winner of 2025 has been crowned, and his name is Gunner! This energetic and lovable pup has captured the title, but there’s just one problem—we need to find his owner!

Dawn Klassen from All Creatures made the big announcement, but we haven’t been able to get a hold of Gunner’s human, Michael Fontaine. So, if you know Michael, let him know that Gunner is officially the first Perfect Pet of the year!

Hannah’s Grade 1/2 Class at Hillcrest School Celebrates January Classroom of the Month

For our January Classroom of the Month delivery, we had the pleasure of visiting Hillcrest School. Hannah’s name was drawn, earning her and Mrs. Sydiaha’s Grade 1/2 class a delicious feast from KFC Estevan and treats from the Southern Plains Co-op.

It was a bitterly cold day outside, but the students’ warmth and enthusiasm made the visit unforgettable. We chatted about their favourite activities to enjoy on chilly winter days, with plenty of creative and cozy ideas shared by the class.
