Collaboration between U.S. Border Patrol and local North Dakota law enforcement is being credited for stopping a recent illegal crossing at the Canada/U.S. border.

U.S. Border Patrol Grand Forks Sector reports that on February 8th, two people were caught making the trek from Canada into the U.S., thanks to information from Operation Stonegarden. That is a FEMA program that provides local law enforcement along the border the funds to purchase equipment, allowing officers to help border patrol agents with securing the boundary. In this case, a drone was used as part of the apprehension.

Authorities says the pair, aged 28 to 29, were Somalian nationals. Agents also seized $16,000 in cash found on one of them.

The pair was processed as Expedited Removals and will be presented for prosecution.
