One person was sent to hospital with minor injuries Thursday afternoon after being rescued from the front of a loaded semi trailer.
Emergency crews, including the members of the Plum Coulee Fire Department and RCMP, were called to the scene of an outdoor bale storage site about two miles east of Plum Coulee on Highway 14.
According to Tony Fehr, Chief of the Plum Coulee Fire Department, the person got caught at the front of the trailer as it was being loaded with bales. Because the loading equipment wasn’t able to reach far enough into the trailer to unload the bales and get the person out, fire fighters deployed the department’s recently donated arsenal of upgraded power tools to cut out part of the side and extract them.
Fehr believes the person was stuck inside the cold trailer for about an hour.
After being extracted from the trailer, the person was checked over by paramedics and brought to hospital for further examination.
