The 903 Strathmore Air Cadet Squadron has launched its biggest fundraiser of the year.
From now until March 26 residents can purchase different types of food from the cadets, with all proceeds going back towards the program.
"Part of the cadet program is them learning how to cook, handle food, and use basic culinary skills," said community liaison Brenda Stuart-Berry. "We've taken the cadets to the Blue Flame Kitchen in Calgary where they have a cooking lesson with a chef."
Some of the items available for purchase include pies, steak, chicken, perogies, burgers, and their popular bacon. According to Stuart-Berry, all of the products are Canadian.
"We're not funded by the Department of National Defense. All they provide are the programs, the officers to run it, and the uniforms. Everything else is on us to keep the doors open."
The fundraiser has a goal of $5,000, but the community liaison claims that they've received a lot more in previous years.
"Last year we sold $28,000 worth of goods. We had almost 300 boxes of products," added Stuart-Berry.
"I've been getting messages about when the bacon is coming. People get really excited about it."
This is the fourth year that the cadets have run the fundraiser.
Delivery day for the products is in early April, with anyone able to donate by visiting the cadet's website.
