There was no shortage of Valentine's Day-themed events at Wheatland Elementary School on Friday (Feb. 14).

From data graphing with candy hearts to making Valentine's for loved ones, every class in the school was doing something to celebrate the day of love.

Grade 1 teacher Leah Paul had her students host a class Valentine's party, with all parents and loved ones invited to join.

"All of the classroom teachers do their own special Valentine's Day party. The kids all hand out their valentines to their friends, and normally parents will bring some treats for the kids to have a little party and spread the love."

Paul said she's loved Valentine's Day since she was a Kindergarten teacher.

"It's just such a fun day to see the kids. Their eyes light up and all the smiles, and of course all the candy. If they're having fun, I'm having fun."

The teacher added that Wheatland Elementary holds community as a value and serves to create programs that help bring people together.

"It's just really special to bring people in and enjoy the joy of Grade 1."

Staff at Wheatland Elementary also received Valentine's cards and candy grams from the students.
