Four men have been arrested for a string of armed robberies in Manitoba, including two reported by DiscoverWestman last week that happened at gas stations in Teulon and Swan Lake First Nation.
Just days after the rural incidents, at 11:20 p.m. on February 13th, Winnipeg Police Service North District General Patrol officers assisted by members of the Tactical Support Team, K-9, and Air 1, responded to commercial robbery on the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg. The suspects, however, had fled before police arrived. Once on scene, investigators learned that group of masked men armed with a variety of weapons were behind the attempted robbery.
The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation and were led to Brandon where they say the suspects were planning another robbery. However with Winnipeg's tactical team in place, they were able to intervene and take the men into custody this past Sunday.
All four were detained in custody and have all been charged with five counts of Armed Robbery, four counts of Disguise with Intent and Theft Under $5,000. They are Harmandeep Singh GILL, 26, of Brampton, Ontario; Ravdeep Singh GILL, 21, of Winnipeg; Jaskaran SINGH, 20, of Surrey, B.C.; and Dilpreet Singh SEKHON, 23, also of Surrey, B.C.
Winnipeg police noted, this investigation was supported by partners in the RCMP and RCMP Major Crimes Unit, the Manitoba First Nations Police, and The Brandon Police Service.
