A Kentucky area couple is thankful to be alive thanks to a nearby Amish community.

A massive storm system moved through the area over the weekend bringing significant rainfall, leading to flooding.

On Tuesday morning, a car became submerged in waist-deep water leaving the driver and passenger unable to get out.

The couple contacted local authorities. However, before crews got to them, a nearby Amish community stepped in using a horse and buggy to pull the vehicle out of the water.

The woman in the vehicle was transported to hospital to be checked out. The man was uninjured.

Shortly after the first rescue, a second vehicle entered the water and stalled. This time the Pembroke Fire Department and Christian County Rescue were able to pull the Jeep out of the water.

No one was injured.
